Phoenix Coyotes

Whether it is the Phoenix Coyotes or the Arizona Coyotes, the Kings have a storied past with the Coyotes, and most of that history surrounds Shane Doan. But then there is the lumberjack himself Mike Smith. If that wasn’t enough they brought in Mike Ribiero, who seems to play his best hockey against LA.

I would have to go with Smith and have Doan missing the cut by the smallest of margins. Smith is a big, big guy and a fine goaltender. But it seems like he is out of his crease throwing his gloves off and chasing down skaters as mush as he is stopping pucks.

At times Smith seems more interested in the play outside of his crease than anything else. Dustin Brown got a fine example of that during the Kings’ Cup run in 2012.

But hey, have fun in Phoenix Smith and just remember, you let Dustin Penner score the series clinching goal, that sent the Kings to the Cup Final. Dustin Penner!
