Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche

The first overall selection of this year’s NHL Draft is expected to jump right into NHL play. He has been compared to Sidney Crosby in the past, whether or not that is because they both grew up playing in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia it does not matter, there has to be a good amount of skill to even back those comparisons.

It is hard to tell how effective he will be at the NHL level this early, but he has destroyed pretty much every league he has played in. During his time with the Halifax Mooseheads, he recorded 153 points in 102 regular season games, and 61 points in 34 playoff games. That is all kinds of success.

MacKinnon is a first class offensive talent and moving into and an organization that is run by Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic can only help the kid.

The Avalanche really just gained some new teams in their division and remain in the Western Conference.
