Where, oh where has Kopitar gone? After coming into the season with an insane, blazing pace, Kopitar has disappeared. He hasn’t put one in the back of the net in twelve games! That’s an absurd amount of time for a player with Kopitar’s skill level, and something that will CERTAINLY end soon. I’m hopeful that he’ll be successful in breaking out of this slump before Smyth gets back, partly because we shouldn’t wait that long for him to get going, but also so that he can establish some confidence on his own and is ready to go when Smyth gets back in the lineup.
The most surprising thing about his (and Brown’s) complete goal drought? That the Kings are still racking up the wins! They’re 4-0-1 in the last five games, and are tearing up their conference rivals. Obviously there’s still more than half of the season left to consider, but there’s no doubt that if the Kings can keep up this hot pace, they’ll get into the playoffs. In fact, playing as they have been and getting the results they’re looking for, the Kings could even make a decent run in the playoffs if all goes to plan.
In all I’m thrilled with recent wins, and am looking forward to seeing the Kings take on the San Jose Sharks tomorrow (today?). Any predictions? Who’s going to put the goals in? Leave your thoughts in the comments! Let’s go Kings!
