After defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs (8-9-1), the Los Angeles Kings (9-5-4) have continued winning games in bunches on the road early this regular season. The Kings have won five games in a row on the road, and LA has points in nine straight road games this fall.
Quinton Byfield and Drew Doughty lift the Los Angeles Kings to a big overtime win over Toronto in their return to Ontario
This win over the Maple Leafs gives head coach Jim Hiller and the Kings an impressive 3-0 record to start this six-game road trip in the East in the middle of this week. The Kings are now in the top two teams in the Pacific Division standings in the West this fall.
While the win on the scoreboard didn't look all that impressive for the Kings this evening in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena, LA definitely controlled the pace of play on the ice in this game vs. the Maple Leafs. The Kings doubled up the Maple Leafs' scoring chances on the ice tonight and had five more high-danger scoring chances (per Natural Stat Trick).
It's also noteworthy that the Kings held the Maple Leafs to a season-low 15 shots on goal, including just single-digit shots in clutch time in the third period.
Alex Laferriere scored a clutch goal late in the third period in the final frame to get the game tied up on the scoreboard. Quinton Byfield ended the game early in overtime tonight to give the Kings the gritty 4-3 comeback win over the Maple Leafs in overtime.
Here are two studs, and one dud from the Kings' 4-3 overtime win over the Maple Leafs on the road in Toronto on Nov. 13.
Stud: Quinton Byfield, C
Byfield has been the savior two games in a row for the Kings this week in the six-game road trip north of the Border in Canada against the Eastern Conference vs. the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs in Toronto tonight. He scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Kings in the dominant 5-1 win over the Canadiens in Montreal this past Tuesday (Nov. 11).

It took under one minute into overtime in Toronto for Byfield and the Kings to end things for the one-goal victory over the Maple Leafs. Byfield scored a nice slap shot one-timer goal on assists from Adrian Kempe and Drew Doughty, with a little over four minutes left in overtime on the scoreboard.
Especially in the third period and in overtime, Byfield was all over the place on both sides of the ice for Hiller and the Kings. Byfield registered an assist on the game-tying goal at the time to help the Kings make a quick comeback against the Maple Leafs on the goal scored by Kevin Fiala at the side of the net on the one-timer.
