Stud: Anton Forsberg, G
In his return to Ottawa to face the team he played for the past five seasons in the early-to-mid 2020s decade with the Senators, Forsberg played as well as the Kings fans could've hoped for tonight in net. Forsberg stopped all 17 shots he faced from the Senators tonight, en route to a key 1-0 win for the Kings to help the team get to double-digit wins in the standings in the West.
He registered his ninth career shutout and first as a member of the Kings this regular season tonight against his former team against the Senators in Ottawa. Forsberg was really big down the stretch for the Kings, not letting any juicy rebounds on low shots and making timely saves when LA needed him to come up clutch in net.
When the Kings needed him to come up big after a few starts in this six-game road trip in the East by starter Darcy Kuemper, Forsberg played his best game this fall for LA in the net. He was calm and collected in the crease tonight for the Kings, which was much needed for a defensive group that was down one key player on the blue line after Doughty left the game in a walking boot.
Forsberg stopped double-digit high-danger scoring chances from Ottawa. This is the first time this regular season that the Senators have been shutout on the scoreboard in any game. The Senators came into tonight averaging around four goals per game offensively in the past four games in the Eastern Conference.
