A quick two-game road trip early this week on Monday night (Dec. 8) began for the Los Angeles Kings (14-8-7) and head coach Jim Hiller with a 4-2 win over the Utah Mammoth (14-14-3) on the road at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The good times offensively kept rolling for Hiller and the Kings yesterday on the road, putting up four goals over the Mammoth in Utah to start this short road trip.

Joel Armia continues his breakout season with the Los Angeles Kings in a two-goal win against the Mammoth in Utah on Monday

The Kings have been very impressive on the road early this regular season. Hiller and the Kings reached double-digit road wins yesterday, becoming one of the first teams in the Western Conference in the standings to do so early this week.

After the Kings and defenseman Brandt Clarke scored a whopping six goals in an offensive outburst to beat the Chicago Blackhawks this past weekend on Saturday night, the team added four more yesterday to beat the Mammoth on the road in Utah.

Winger Joel Armia contributed two goals and star forward Adrian Kempe had multiple points to help the Kings register the multi-goal win over the Mammoth. Darcy Kuemper was solid in net for the Kings, allowing just two goals on 21 shots on goal and seven high-danger scoring chances for the Mammoth yesterday (per Natural Stat Trick).

Here are two studs, and one dud, from the Kings' regulation 4-2 win on the road over the Mammoth at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Dec. 8.

Stud: Joel Armia, W

Armia and Kempe delivered a multi-goal lead in the opening frame yesterday against the Mammoth in the first period in Utah. With how good Kuemper and the Kings' defense on the blue line have been early this regular season, I'd think LA had a good chance to win this game yesterday against the Mammoth on the road with a multi-goal lead at the end of the first period.

The Kings extended the lead to two goals in the opening frame in the first period yesterday against the Mammoth, on a nice pass in the offensive zone from Kevin Fiala to Armia. That was a big goal for Armia to help the Kings get more of a commanding lead on the scoreboard and more momentum on the ice vs. Utah.

Later in the game in the final frame in the third period, Armia scored his second goal of the game for the Kings and salted the win away for Hiller and LA yesterday.

Armia registered his first multi-goal and second multi-point game this fall early this regular season yesterday vs. Utah on the road.
