The blue line on defense for the Kings today contributed offensively on the stat sheet in the zone to help LA defeat Columbus on the scoreboard by a score of 5-4 in the extra frame in overtime.

Brian Dumoulin had a fantastic game offensively in the zone for the Kings from the blue line on defense for Smith and the LA coaching staff vs. Columbus. He registered what ended up being the game-tying goal for the Kings in the final frame in the third period on a beautiful move that broke some ankles vs. Columbus this afternoon on the ice.

"I’ve used that move a couple times this year, I just haven’t scored, so you guys didn’t remember it."
Brian Dumoulin

Dumoulin finished the game today vs. Columbus for the Kings with a season-high one goal and three total points on the stat sheet.

"He just made plays for us back there. He was good in the offensive zone. We’re preaching that we want to get to the net a little bit more and we need guys to deliver the puck and he did it. Then, he finds a way to get us that huge goal."
Smith on Dumoulin

Dumoulin showed off the handles on a highlight-reel goal in the final frame in the third period that gave the Kings the lead on the scoreboard when it mattered in clutch time. That goal from Dumoulin in the final frame in the third period this afternoon vs. Columbus on the road gave the Kings life at a critical time in the game, and allowed the team to reach the point of picking up two points in the standings in the West early this week.

I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the strong performances today from other Kings' players on the ice and on the scoreboard for the win for two points in the standings in the West, including forwards Artemi Panarin and Scott Laughton and goalie Anton Forsberg in the crease for the team. The Kings got a combined two goals and four total points from Panarin and Laughton offensively today vs. Columbus.
