Dud: Cody Ceci, D
There were a lot of opportunities in the zone offensively that the Kings missed in the middle frame in the second period yesterday in the Pacific Division vs. the Canucks on home ice. The Kings had a few opportunities to put this game away in the opening frame in the first period and in the middle frame yesterday offensively, but the game still remained pretty close on the scoreboard until the final frame.
The Kings gave up the game's first goal defensively in the zone that came from a bad bounce when defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Cody Ceci were on the ice together vs. Vancouver. If not for that unfortunate shift where Dumoulin and Ceci were on the ice in the opening frame yesterday, Forsberg could've had a shutout on the stat sheet for the team.
I don't think there was a clear choice on this list for the Kings for the spot on the dud list. But Ceci did have a couple of untimely defensive and neutral zone turnovers and giveaways yesterday (per Natural Stat Trick). I also thought Ceci and Dumoulin could've done a better job clearing out the crease around the net in front of Forsberg yesterday in the opening frame in the first period and in the middle frame.
It's also been reported by Zach Dooley of LA Kings Insider on Friday afternoon (April 10) that Ceci was one of multiple Kings' players in the active roster lineup yesterday who were held out of practice for the team today late this week. Center Quinton Byfield and forward Jeff Malott also missed practice today for the Kings at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in Southern California.
