Stud: Quinton Byfield, C
The game's MVP for both teams on the ice yesterday in the opening frame in the first period and the second period was Byfield for the Kings. Byfield's huge night helped the Kings secure the playoff-clinching win in the standings in the West in the Pacific Division this regular season down the stretch this spring for this upcoming postseason in the playoffs.
Byfield has registered two multi-goal games in wins for the Kings in the West this regular season down the stretch early this month in early April in the last five games for the team offensively in the zone. He scored a couple of goals yesterday in the opening frame in the first period to help the Kings get off to a necessary solid start on the scoreboard and on the ice.
"You saw it against Edmonton, big assignment for him and us, playing against Connor and them. So, to be able to go do that and then come out tonight and still play defensively, like you said, coming out of the d-zone, score a couple of big goals, I think that he’s been awesome. He’s a big player for us."Trevor Moore on Quinton Byfield
It only took under five minutes in the opening frame in the first period yesterday for Byfield to give the Kings the early 1-0 lead on the scoreboard, scoring on a beautiful placed shot on an odd-man rush on a 2-on-1 in the zone offensively.
Under 10 minutes later, Byfield doubled the Kings lead on the scoreboard in the opening frame in the first period, scoring on a breakaway from a turnover from the Kraken defensively around the neutral zone. Byfield chipped the puck past Kraken goalie Nikke Kokko in front of the net for Seattle yesterday.
The way that Byfield played offensively in the zone for the Kings yesterday on the ice, and how goalie Anton Forsberg was shutting the Kraken down defensively in front of the net for the team, these players put LA in a position to win in the final frame in the third period on the scoreboard in the Pacific Division.
