Adrian Kempe and Quinton Byfield deliver the clutch goals for the Los Angeles Kings in the final frame in a clinching win for the postseason vs. Seattle on Monday night

Smith and the Kings jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on the scoreboard early in the game yesterday on the road vs. Seattle in the Pacific Division in the opening frame in the first period, thanks to a big night from center Quinton Byfield in Seattle on Monday night. The game's two goals on the scoreboard from Byfield gave the Kings the started the team needed to be able to clinch a playoff spot this upcoming postseason this spring.

That said, it looked like Smith and the Kings' coaching staff were cruising to a smooth-smailing win in the final frame in the third period. The Kraken got the Kings lead down to just one goal on the scoreboard in clutch time in the final frame in the third period.

Smith and the Kings took a timeout when the Kraken were on a two-goal run on the ice in the final frame in the third period late in the game. It seemed like the timeout gave the Kings a boost on the ice and on the scoreboard. Adrian Kempe scored the eventual game-winning goal late in the final frame in the third period in clutch time for the Kings yesterday, and forward Alex Laferriere buried the empty-netter on the power play on special teams for the team late in the game in the final frame vs. Seattle on the road.

Here are two studs and one dud from the Kings' playoff-clinching and clutch 5-3 win over the Kraken on the road in Seattle at Climate Pledge Arena on April 13.

Stud: Adrian Kempe, F

One of the game's most important goals on the ice and on the scoreboard yesterday in clutch time in the final frame in the third period for the Kings late in the game was Kempe giving the team a two-goal lead at a critical time vs. Seattle on the road. Kempe's goal in the final frame in the third period helped the Kings double their lead on the scoreboard, and it was the eventual game winner in clutch time.

Kempe was very clutch for the Kings and Smith and the coaching staff in the final frame in the third period yesterday, scoring a goal when the Kraken had the momentum on the ice and on the scoreboard late in the game in the Pacific Division.

This was a huge response on the ice yesterday from the Kings and Kempe in the final frame in the third period to tamp down the excitement from the Kraken faithful in clutch time when the momentum was on their side of the ice in the arena in Seattle.
