Reason for the LA Kings to trade for Chris Kreider: Power Play Performance

The biggest reason is that it will help address a major issue on the Los Angeles Kings right now and that is the power play. The Kings have been one of the worst teams in the NHL on the power play this season, which is surprising since the past two seasons they have been near the Top 10 in power play percentage.

A player like Chris Kreider would be a great addition and spark for the power play unit. For his career, he has 315 goals and 114 of them have been on the power play. He has had double-digit power play goals in three of the past four seasons prior to this one and led the league in 2021-22 with 26.

This season, even what has been a down season for Kreider, he already has four power play goals, while the Kings as a team has only 14. The Kings should get a boost later this season with the return of Drew Doughty to their power play unit but also adding Kreider would drastically improve this group.
