Gabe Vilardi is the one player that got away for the Los Angeles Kings

In the two players previously mentioned, in the end it worked out for the Los Angeles Kings as they probably wouldn't want to give up Kevin Fiala or Darcy Kuemper to add those players back onto the roster. However, Gabe Vilardi is a complete different scenario and he would have been a great player to have back on the Kings roster for Holland.

The reason is that Vilardi was one of the prospects that was traded to the Winnipeg Jets as part of the trade that brought Pierre-Luc Dubois to Los Angeles. He was the 11th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft and looked to have a breakout season during the 2022-23 season with the Kings with 23 goals and 18 assists.

That would be his final season with the Kings and has gone on to produce at a similar level the past two seasons with 97 points in 118 games.

The fact that the Kings don't have anything to show for Vilardi less than two years after the trade, is tough, especially with how he has done over that time frame.
