Pierre-Luc Dubois has found success with the Washington Capitals that he wouldn't have had with the Kings
Arguably the worst move made by Rob Blake as general manager was around Pierre-Luc Dubois as he not only traded top prospects for the center but then signed him to a massive contract extension. He lasted only one year with the team with 40 points in 82 regular season games before he was traded to the Capitals in a one-for-one deal that brought back Darcy Kuemper.
Dubois found immediate success with the Capitals as he had 66 points this season with 20 goals and 46 assists.
It would be easy to say, he would have had the same success with the Kings this season but it was clear that it was a mismatch of system and skill set between the two sides. Dubois was never going to have the same success in Jim Hiller's system that he had with the Capitals.
While it would be great to think the Kings could bring back a player who would have finished third on the team in points, it is hard to imagine he could deliver the same level of production.
