2 LA Kings who stood out in the overtime loss to the Boston Bruins
The Los Angeles Kings would only get one point on Saturday as they would lose 2-1 to the Boston Bruins in overtime. The extra period is nothing new to the Kings as they have gone to overtime now in seven straight games in Boston dating back to the 2017-18 season.
While they weren't able to get the win, the overall performance by the Kings is something that should be applauded. The Kings looked much better than they did against the Sabres earlier in the week and these were two players in particular that stood out.
Darcy Kuemper
One player who has looked great in both games has been goalie Darcy Kuemper, who is playing at the level he did his first time with the Kings back in the 2017-18 season. On Saturday, he saved 23 of 25 shots and had a Goals Against Average of 1.90.
One of the more impressive stats through the first two games is that Kuemper has allowed only three goals and has yet to give up a goal when the teams are 5v5. It is a long season but the early returns on the trade that brought Kuemper to LA with Pierre-Luc Dubois have definitely been in the Kings' favor.
Alex Turcotte
Alex Turcotte was only on the ice for 9:05 against the Boston Bruins but he continues to make the most of that time on the ice. He looked good against the Buffalo Sabres and once again it was noticeable when he was on the ice against the Bruins.
While he didn't get credit for the assist, he definitely played a big part in Trevor Moore's goal in the second period. Phillip Danault passed across the ice in front of the net and Turcotte missed the puck, which would continue to Moore for the goal. However, he was not in position in front of the net there was no way that puck would have gotten through.
It wouldn't be surprising if the coaching staff is spending the next day or so to figure out how to get Turcotte more ice time, because he is making a great case for it.
