The speculation is finally over for the Los Angeles Kings regarding which players for the team will be named to represent Team Canada for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, in a couple of months in February. There was positive news on New Year's Eve to ring in the New Year for 2026 in the middle of this week for a couple of Kings players, including veteran defenseman Drew Doughty and starting goalie Darcy Kuemper.
Los Angeles Kings have two players representing the team for Team Canada in 2026, defenseman Drew Doughty and goalie Darcy Kuemper
There were a handful of Kings' players, including Doughty and Kuemper, who were uncertain regarding their status to make the roster for Team Canada for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy in a couple of months.
Doughty is getting his third chance to compete for a Gold Medal with Team Canada for the first time in over a decade for his home country from the Kings. The two-time Stanley Cup Champion and future Hockey Hall-of-Famer defenseman, Doughty won Gold Medals with Team Canada on the blue line on defense in 2010 and 2014 in this past decade.
He played for Team Canada on the blue line on defense this past year in the inaugural 4 Nations Tournament, winning the title for his home country.

Kuemper, meanwhile, is joining Doughty with Team Canada in the Winter Olympics and/or a 4 Nations Tournament for the first time in a couple of months in Italy in the 2026 Winter Olympics. Kuemper isn't necessarily a shocking selection, though, since he was named a Vezina Trophy finalist for the Kings this past season in the West in the 2024-25 campaign.
This regular season in the West in the Pacific Division, Kuemper has registered a 10-6-6 record, with a stellar .917 save percentage, 2.19 goals against average, and two shutouts for the Kings.
