Concern: Jordan Spence

Entering this season, Jordan Spence had high expectations after a promising season last year in what was essentially his first season as a full-time starter. The departure of Matt Roy in free agency was going to give Spence an expanded role but he was elevated even more after Drew Doughty's injury in the preseason.

Unfortunately, Spence did not respond well to the added responsibility and after beginning the season with Mikey Anderson, he has moved back to the third line on defense. He has seen his average time on ice drop significantly after averaging 18:35 through the first 10 games and down to 17:53 in the last 10. Spence also has 28 giveaways through 20 games, which is 10 more than he had all of last season.

The season isn't entirely lost for Spence as there are two things that are working in his favor going forward. The first is that this pairing with Jacob Moverare has been a big boost for him and the two complement each other well. The second is that Drew Doughty is set to return at some point this season and once that happens a little more pressure comes off Spence and he can settle back into the role that he did last year and hopefully get back to playing at that level.
