Matthew Knies
The Maple Leafs are another team that has some big decisions as Mitch Marner appears set to leave in free agency and they still unrestricted free agents John Tavares and Max Pacioretty. On top of that, they have Matthew Knies set to be a restricted free agent and once again if he is un-signed by July 1st, there will be plenty of interest.
Knies had a excellent season with 29 goals and 29 assists this past season for Toronto and among the players on this list would be the best fit for the Los Angeles Kings. Last summer, the focus was to get bigger and more physical with the additions of Tanner Jeannot and Warren Foegele and Knies would definitely fit that description with over 350 hits the past two seasons.
In addition, the Kings wanted a left-handed winger at the trade deadline but that wasn't added during the season. Knies would address that and slot in perfectly on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe. It seems unlikely that Knies will remain un-signed in July and the Maple Leafs will prioritize getting a deal done but if not, then Knies would be an excellent player for the Kings to try and sign.
