Stud: Joel Edmundson, D

This was easily the best first period that Edmundson has had on the blue line for Hiller and the Kings early this regular season on the road. Not only did Edmundson score the game-tying goal in the first period on the scoreboard for the Kings tonight, but he also assisted on the eventual game-winning goal by Byfield on the delayed penalty call later in the opening frame.

Edmundson has been really good for the Kings since Hiller and staff moved the defensive pairings back to the adjustments they were at early this regular season this past week. He's a +3 rating with one goal and three total points since Hiller and the Kings switched the defensive pairings back this past week.

Edmundson ripped one past Montembeault and the Habs in the game's first period, which was a critical response in the opening frame that helped the Kings come back and take the lead for good later in the period.

We should also give Edmundson some credit for helping to shut down a speedy and skilled group of Habs' forwards that have wreaked havoc on some really good blue lines and top defensive pairings in recent weeks in the East. Tonight's game was the first time this regular season that the Habs have been held under two goals in a loss this fall.

The Kings are rolling on the road right now. It's a good time to be firing on all cylinders for Edmundson and the Kings' blue line, going into a tough matchup on the road north of the border late this week against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Ontario on Nov. 13.
