The Los Angeles Kings took on the Dallas Stars this afternoon on Fox Sports West in what was the 6th and final matchup of the regular season between the division rivals. This was the second day of brutal back-to-back games for the Kings, who were coming off an overtime loss to the New York Islanders on Long Island yesterday. Coming into the game, the Kings were 2-1-2 in the 5 previous games versus the Stars. Jonathan Quick got his 48th start of the season and Kevin Westgarth was in the lineup instead of Trent Hunter. Good call by coach Darryl Sutter. Also, sitting for the second consecutive game, was Dustin Penner. Yet another good call by coach Sutter. So far, Jordan Nolan has been extremely impressive in his time with the Kings.

Today ends a frustrating road trip for the Los Angeles Kings in Dallas, Texas. This is the sixth and final meeting of the Pacific Division rivals. The Stars have won the past 3 consecutive games against the Kings this season. The last meeting between the two clubs was January 12 in a 5-4 Dallas win. How well will the Kings fare in the Lone Star State?
The prediction panel results for the Los Angeles Kings vs. the Dallas Stars game are below. Man I really liked the way Nolan played yesterday!
Kings Lose To Islanders In OT
The L.A. Kings and the N.Y. Islanders met this afternoon in Long Island for their one and only matchup of the season, where they suffered a 2-1 loss in overtime. There is only one stop left for the Kings on this six-game road trip and up to this point they have only managed to record 3 out of a possible 10 points. After losing to the Blues, Hurricanes, and Panthers, the Kings decided to make a big change prior to today’s game and brought in Dwight King and Jordan Nolan from the Manchester Monarchs. For the time being, Jarret Stoll is out with an injury and Dustin Penner was scratched in order to make room for these guys on the Mike Richards line. While no points were recorded by this line, they spent a ton of time in the offensive zone and had several chances that just barely missed the net. The Kings desperately need a winger that can help out Richards and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the both of them. Most specifically, Jordan Nolan, who played in his first ever NHL game, blew me away. He battled hard for every puck and was mere inches away from scoring on at least three separate occasions. This guy is awesome! I hope he sticks around for a bit and can chip in a few goals here and there.
Below are the results for today’s prediction panel. The Los Angeles Kings take on the New York Islanders. Find out who chose who and what we all think the outcome will be. I, for one, hope I’m wrong. Keep in mind, I wrote my prediction prior to the transactions that took place yesterday. Hope for the best but expect the worst…
Tonight was another dismal performance showed by the Los Angeles Kings. They looked to sweep the Sunshine State, but instead were cleaned out by the Florida Panthers, losing 3-1. In their previous seven meetings, the Kings were unbeaten dating back to 2002 AND were 3-0 in that stint in Sunshine, Fl. Kings Fans are beyond frustrated and are scratching their heads to reach the wrinkle in their memory that will hopefully allow them to forget the early season expectations and why our team was the one to cough up a big wet fur ball in Florida.
The prediction panel results for tonight’s Los Angeles Kings vs. Florida Panthers game are below. Personally, I’d like to see one particular individual from the Panthers get beaten bloody.
The Los Angeles Kings took on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. After losing the past two games, the Los Angeles Kings really needed to win this game. The Kings have been desperate for goals and tonight their prayers were answered when they scored three goals to beat the Lightning 3-1.
I also expected Tampa Bay to come out strong tonight because they are still fighting for their spot in the playoffs. As of today, the Kings hold a playoff spot, but struggle with offense. Although the Lightning were also in need of a win tonight, there wasn’t too much animosity between the two teams because they hardly play each other. The last time that they met, the Kings won 2-1 in a shoot out on November 14, 2009. Two young players, 22-year-old Kings’ defense man Drew Doughty, and Lightning’s Steven Stamkos, who just turned 22 today, have had some history together. Steven Stamkos and Drew Doughty went 1st and 2nd respectively back in the 2008 NHL draft. Continue reading this post »
