Coyotes to watch

Arizona has two top prospects at the center position in Dylan Strome and Christian Dvorak. Both of these guys will be fighting for roster spots at a position of minimal depth for the Coyotes, but the staff wont rush them to the NHL.

The Coyotes’ top pick in the last draft, Lawson Crouse, will also be one to keep an eye on. Overall, the Coyotes will be looking at players “moving away from summer development…and getting into the thought process that they’re fighting for a job.”, as assistant coach Jim Playfair said.

Kings to watch

The Kings already have a crowded NHL roster, so there may only be a few names we see in Los Angeles this season. Kevin Gravel and Derek Forbert are two that could wind up with the Kings. As Jon Rosen wrote on LA Kings Insider, Alex Lintuniemi and Damir Sharipzianov are a pair of defensemen with a lot of eyes on them.

Lintuniemi is the older of the two and expected “to be the best defensemen on the ice on either team” according to coach Mike Stothers.

Sharipzianov has a slightly different style of play. His tactic is to disrupt everything in his path and he’s not afraid to get physical. He was quoted in Rosen’s article saying:

"“I’m trying to be really physical, just make guys be scared to go in my way, chip the puck in if they see me and I’ll take the puck from them,”"

Paul Ladue is another rookie defenseman who joins the team after a National Championship season at the University of North Dakota. The team believes that experience helped him to mature quickly and become a leader at a young age.
