Los Angeles Kings Defeat the Edmonton Oilers 5-2
Tuesday night the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 at Rexall Place.
The win broke a three-game losing streak by the Kings. L.A. also picked up that elusive 30th win of the season.
Lots of good news came out of this game. Most importantly the Kings got two points in the standings. L.A. broke the losing streak. The Kings got a win on the road, which has been tough for them to do this season; their away record improves to 10-14-6. Lastly, L.A. had contributions from all over the roster, getting a number of players going and scoring.

Three of four lines added points in the win. 10 different Kings players had points in the game.
Jonathan Quick is now 13-1-5 all-time against the Oilers. Quick improves his record to 26-17-10.
Matt Green opened the scoring in the game with a blast from the point for his 3rd goal of the season.
In the last-minute of the first period Anze Kopitar showed great hockey sense and patience, making a nice move around Edmonton defensemen Oscar Klefbloom. Kopitar then snapped a pass over to Trevor Lewis who one-timed a shot past Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens, who had no chance. It was Lewis’ 9th goal of the season.
Two-minutes into the second period 2/3rd’s of That 70’s Line struck short-handed. On another odd-man rush Jeff Carter tipped a shot-pass from Tyler Toffoli into the goal. It was Carter’s 21st goal, and Toffoli’s 21st assist on the season.
11-minutes later, to the second, the Oilers broke Quick’s shutout. Luke Gazdic tipped in a point-shot from Jordan Oesterie.

Before the period ended Kyle Clifford put the Kings back up by three with his 4th goal of the season from Nick Shore and Jordan Nolan. The fourth line has been grinding it out and working hard for the Kings and they were rewarded.
26-seconds into the third period Anze Kopitar scored his 13th goal of the year on a routine shot from just inside the blue line.
Trevor Lewis had his first 3 point night as a King.
It was Andrej Sekera’s first win in an L.A. Kings uniform.
Nick Shore got his third career NHL point as a King with his assist on Kyle Clifford’s goal. Jordan Nolan picked up his first assist of the season on the play as well.
The Kings are now 2-0-1 against the Oilers this season. They will meet two more times before the regular season ends.
L.A. remains in 4th place in the Pacific Division and 9th in the Western Conference.

The Kings next game is Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
