The Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers kicked off their Stanley Cup Finals matchup earlier today.
Like many games in these playoffs the Kings fell into an early whole giving up a breakaway goal to Benoit Pouliot and a shorthanded goal by Carl Hagelin putting them in an 0-2 hole to start the game.
Luckily for the Kings, like they have done so many times these playoffs, they have battled back and tied the game at two mid way through the second period. Kyle Clifford opened the scoring in the first period giving the Kings some momentum going into the second period.
Drew Doughty answered the call and tied the game in the second period with a highlight reel goal. Doughty joined the rush late and received a pass from Justin Williams on the side boards. Doughty caught the puck, dragged it between his legs and beat the Rangers defense and Henrik Lundqvist to tie the game.
