Rumors about Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane picked up Saturday after he was a healthy scratch against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kane has just 12 points in his last 21 games.
Reports throughout the season have expressed that several teams are interested in the 22 year old Kane. Teams including the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, and yes the Los Angeles Kings.
Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press, prior to Saturday’s benching, speculated that Kane could be part of a big off-season trade for the Jets. More, Lawless believes that the Jets have very few untouchable pieces, including Ladd, Little, and Byflugien among others.
According to multiple league sources, Jets GM Cheveldayoff plans to seriously exploring moving Evander Kane as early as this years NHL draft in late June. It’s believed Kane would net a huge return for the Jets.
The team is also exploring buying-out or trading starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec.
Should the Kings explore adding Kane? The team has plenty of good forwards, but he could be a superb replacement for Marian Gaborik if he does not return. A trade would most likely mean parting with some young forwards like Tyler Toffoli.
