Los Angeles Kings vs. Vancouver Canucks Game Preview

Oh how things have changed. It seemed like a reoccurring dream at this time of the season, the Vancouver Canucks would sit atop the conference running away with another division title and the Los Angeles Kings would be jockeying for position in the playoff.

Well things are a little different going into tonights game between the Vancouver Canucks and the LA Kings. The Kings are locked into the third seed in the Pacific Division and a spot in the playoffs. While the Canucks are barely afloat and need a win tonight in order to breathe life into their already slim chances at qualifying for the playoffs.

The Kings have a chance to sweep the season series against the Canucks tonight having gone 3-0-0 at home against the Canucks and winning the only meeting between the two at Rogers Arena back in November.

Tonight will be the Kings’ second game of a four game road trip along the Western Conference. The Kings lost the opening game of the trip two nights ago against the San Jose Sharks. Drew Doughty sustained an upper-body injury during that game but did travel with the team to Vancouver.

The Canucks are grasping for life currently as they sit six points behind the Dallas Stars for the final wild card spot. Since the Stars do have a game in hand on the Canucks any type of loss to the Kings tonight could be the fatal blow to the Canucks already fading chances at the playoffs.

Nevertheless a game between the Canucks and Kings is always a high intensity and entertaining affair between two teams that do not like one another and tonight should be no different.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. local time.
