Earlier today the NHL announced its three stars of the week ending on Jan. 19. It was announced that Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning received the week’s number one star and Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Cory Crawford grabbed the number three star.
The number two star of the week went to none other than Los Angeles’ own Jonathan Quick.
Over the course of the week Quick posted a 0.97 goals against average and .967 save percentage on the way 2-0-1 record.
Quick opened the week with a 1-0 shutout victory over the Vancouver Cacnucks turning away 28 shots in that game. He followed that performance with a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues. Quick ended the week with his only loss of the week in a shootout in a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings (which is still ridiculous).
All in all, Quick grabbed the Kings five out of a total six possible points on the week. I think it is safe to say that Quick hasn’t missed a step since returning from a severe groin injury on Jan. 4.
