The San Jose Sharks are in town for tonight’s match up against our home town boys. Tonight’s match up will prove vital to the current Pacific Division standings as the Sharks will start the night just two points behind the Kings in the Pacific Division standings. The rest of the Division as well as Kings and Sharks fans should be hoping this game gets decided in regulation and avoids another three-point night.
The Kings are coming off of another stellar performance by goalie Martin Jones who shut out the Edmonton Oilers for the 3-0 two nights ago. It was Jones’ third shutout victory since getting his first career start just a few weeks ago. Since getting his career started Jones has gone 6-0-0 and posted a 0.82 goals against average with a .972 save percentage.
Jeff Carter has scored two goals and recorded six points in his last four games. If he can keep up his recent production the Kings will have a much easier time fending off the Sharks tonight.
Tonight will be the last game of a three-game road trip for the Sharks. On this trip the Sharks have gone 1-1-0 losing to the Nashville Predators to open the roadie and beating the St. Louis Blues two nights ago.
This will be the third meeting of the season between the two in state rivals. The previous meetings needed extra time with both teams taking one victory. The Sharks won via shootout in the first meeting of the season, while the Kings won in overtime the last time the teams met.
