Kings Goalie Martin Jones Named NHL’s Second Star Of The Week

Earlier today the NHL released its three stars of the week for Dec 9 through Dec 15. It was announced that the Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin and Nashville Predators goalie Carter Hutton received the number one and number three stars respectively.

Los Angeles Kings goaltender Martin Jones would round out the three stars and received the number two star of the week.

Over the course of the week Jones posted a 3-0-0 record, with a 1.00 goals against average, a .972 save percentage and one shutout.

Jones started the week with a 6-0 shutout victory over the Montreal Canadiens, that was Jones’ second consecutive shutout victory. Jones extended his scoreless streak well into the next game but finally gave up a goal after 177:16 of flawless hockey. Jones went on to win two more games through out the week, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 and the Ottawa Senators 5-2.

Since coming into the league on Dec. 3, Jones has gone 5-0-0, recorded 2 shutout victories and has a .99 goals against average with a .967 save percentage.
