Later this week, USA Hockey will hold the 2013 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, New York. There, 44 Americans will take part in a series of practices and games that are set to get underway on Saturday. All of the players attending the camp hope for a good showing in hopes of taking the first steps towards representing the U.S. at the 2013 World Junior Championships.
Among those 44 attending the camp will be two Los Angeles Kings prospects. Both Nick Ebert and Hudson Fasching will be attending the camp.
Ebert, who was selected 211th overall in 2012 Draft will be one of the 16 defencemen attending the camp, while Fasching, who was selected 118th overall just about a month ago will be facing off against 23 other forwards.
Over the course of the camp Team USA will be split into two squads and will play against several other national teams before cuts are made and more games are played with a sort of final roster. Here is more from the United States of Hockey on the format of the weekend:
Team Blue and Team White used to play a few games against each other, but with Canada in the mix, that won’t be happening this year. Each U.S. team will play a game against Sweden and another against Finland. After those two games, cuts will be made on either Monday or Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday’s action.
The remaining players will finish out a schedule that includes one game against each of Finland, Sweden and Canada.
Sweden, Finland and Canada will also be in Lake Placid for their evaluation camps. However, the U.S . is the only team that has any Kings prospects among those on the roster. Check in later for updates on Ebert, Fasching and their progress towards the World Junior Championships.
