The Stanley Cup Final is set to kick off later tonight, and unfortunately the Kings will not be playing taking part in it this year. Instead, the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks will be playing for the chance to lift hockey’s holy grail.
With the Kings nursing their wounds and making reservations at the local golf courses, who will the Kings faithful be rooting for in the absence of their team in the Final, the Bruins or the Blackhawks?
Of course, there is the argument that the Blackhawks eliminated the Kings so why not root for the team that eliminated your guys and have the, “Well, we lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions,” argument. But that could also go the other way, since Chicago eliminated the Kings you could hope the Bruins run the Blackhawks into the ground.
For the Bruins, you could be cheering on Boston because, since the Kings did not play them this year, there is virtually no bad blood between the two clubs. Then there is the question, do you really want another team from Boston to walk away with a championship?
Or you could be the type of person that is writing off hockey altogether until next season, and will not pay attention to anything unless it has the words Los Angeles, Kings or trade in the headline.
If that is the case, you are going to miss on out some great hockey and you should be ashamed.
