Previewing the Los Angeles Kings’ 2012-13 season:
Game 46 @ Minnesota, April 23, 2013, 5pm PST (8pm EST)
The Los Angeles Kings embark on their final road trip of the season as they are in St. Paul on Tuesday night to take on the Minnesota Wildwho are looking to clinch their first playoff berth since 2008. This is the third and final meeting between the Kings and Wild with the home team winning each of the previous two meetings.
After Minnesota won 4-3 on home ice back on March 30, the Kings shut out the Wild by a score of 3-0 just four days later in Los Angeles. In the latter contest, Jonathan Bernier was the story as he stopped all 23 shots he faced to earn his first shutout of the season. Being that the Kings are playing twice in as many nights, there’s no reason to believe that Bernier won’t be starting against the Wild on Tuesday.
Since both Anaheim and Vancouver clinched their respective divisions on Monday night, the Kings and Wild can now focus on more important things. With 51 points, Minnesota is tied with Columbus for seventh in the West need to rack up some points as they only lead the ninth-place Detroit Red Wings by a single point after their win on Monday.
While the Kings have already clinched a playoff spot, they are eying home-ice advantage and currently sit fourth in the West two points ahead of fifth-place San Jose. A Los Angeles win paired with a San Jose loss on Tuesday will guarantee the Kings home-ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.
We are now in the final week of the NHL regular season and both teams have plenty to play for. So, let’s see who comes out on top.
Enjoy the game!
