According to MayorManor’s Twitter (@mayorNHL) earlier today, there are confirmed sources from Manchester that say prospect forward Tyler Toffoli is on his way to Los Angeles to join the Kings.
It’s unclear as to whether Toffoli’s call up means that he’s filling in for someone or just filling a roster spot. There seems to concern revolving around Twitter that Toffoli is joining the big club to replace Mike Richards who suffered a hard hit during Saturday’s win against Calgary. While Richards did return to finish the game, some have reason to believe that he is more hurt than we first realized. Of course, there’s no confirmation as of yet.
Drafted by the Kings in the second round (47th overall) in the 2010 Draft, Tyler Toffoli wrapped up his junior career last season where he played for the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67s. After playing just one game for Manchester last season, 2012-13 marked Toffoli’s first full season in the AHL and he has not disappointed.
In 55 games with the Monarchs this season, Toffoli has scored 28 goals and added 20 assists to go along with a +20 rating. Whatever the circumstances for the call up are, Kings fans are certainly excited to see their first glimpse of Tyler Toffoli with the big club.
