Previewing the Los Angeles Kings’ 2012-13 season:
Game 15 @ Calgary, February 20, 2013, 7pm PST (10pm EST)
They were good enough to pick up the win last night in Edmonton against the Oilersto pick up the win and now momentum is back in their favour for the time being.
But there’s no rest for the Los Angeles Kings as go right from Edmonton down the road to Calgary to take on the Flames for the first time this season. This will be the first of three meetings between the two clubs.
Under new head coach Bob Hartley, the Flames are hovering around the .500 mark just like the Kings are. At 5-6-3, they sit just one point behind Los Angeles in the West standings. It will be a tough test for both clubs, though. The Kings are still having trouble scoring and the Flames are having goaltending woes after Miikka Kiprusoff went down with an injury earlier this month. Logic would say that trouble in said department is just what the Kings need to start lighting the lamp – but logic doesn’t always translate into hard results.
With their still-depleted defense, the Kings will need contain Calgary’s leading scorers to have any chance of winning. Alex Tanguay and former King Mike Cammalleri lead the Flames with 12 and 11 points respectively while Lee Stempniak, who has had success against Los Angeles in the past, leads the club with five goals.
It’s no rest for the wicked and the Kings hope a visit to Cowtown will increase their confidence moving on.
Enjoy the game!
