This is actually hilarious. There has been a lot of recent conversation in the hockey world about how our very own Dustin Penner received his latest injury. It was reported on Saturday afternoon that Penner would be a last minute scratch in the game against the Blue Jackets that day. So what exactly happened to him that morning to cause this mysterious and spontaneous back injury? Well, if you hadn’t already heard, here is what Penner had to say:
“I just leaned over to dip into some delicious pancakes that my wife made. It’s just like it [the pain] wraps around you and squeezes. … So it was disappointing. Hopefully it’s just an isolated incident, and not something that’s going to become chronic.””
This of course caused a frenzy in the twitter world and even led to a little something called #PancakeGate. This is really only funny if you are familiar with Penner’s history of being criticized for his weight. So it’s just a little ironic that he openly admits to receiving an injury while diving into a stack of “delicious pancakes.” He’s struggled a little bit since his 32 goal season in 09-10 with the Edmonton Oilers and it’s definitely taken some Kings fans a little time to warm up to him, especially with the lack of goal production.
If this very open and direct letter from Dustin Penner himself doesn’t do it for you, I don’t know what will. Thanks to MayorsManor.com for this gem:
