Manchester Monarchs Update

The Los Angeles Kings’ minor league team, the Manchester Monarchs are looking to turn around their not so great start to the season. They are currently ranked 4th in the Atlantic Division and suffered a four-game losing streak during their six-game road trip. Leading the way in points is Andrei Loktionov with 3 goals and 8 assists. Following behind him is Marc-Andre Cliche with 6 points and Jake Muzzin, David Meckler, Ray Kaunisto, and David Kolomatis all with 5 points.  Loktionov’s plus-7 rating is tied for first in the league, while Muzzin and Kolomatis are tied for 4th in the league amongst defensemen.

There is no doubt that this team has a lot of skilled players, it just may take some time for them to get things going. They are currently without their top defenseman Slava Voynov, who was called up to help the Kings during Drew Doughty’s injury. Chances are high that he will be rejoining the Monarchs once Doughty returns, which surely they are looking forward to considering the four-game losing streak began right after he was called up to Los Angeles. Goaltender Martin Jones has three wins and three losses this season and backup goalie Jeff Zatkoff is winless after playing only two games.

Let’s not forget to support the Manchester Monarchs; after all, they play a big role in the Kings organization. Where else would some of our key guys like Martinez, Richardson, Lewis, Bernier, etc. have fine-tuned their skills for the big leagues?

The Monarchs return home to the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday, October 26th to play the Springfield Falcons, who they are 1-1 against this season. You can watch all AHL games live online at http://ahl.neulion.com/ahl/. Make sure to stay updated!
