During Tuesday morning practice, general manager Dean Lombardi said left winger Scott Parse is set to have surgery on his hip and will be out until February.
Parse began the season on IR and missed the first 11 games recuperating from the injury, which happened during the opening exhibition game of camp this year. Parse has four points (1+3=4) in five games while playing on the top line with center Anze Kopitar and team captain Dustin Brown.
In his place, the Kings called up 22-year-old left wing Dwight King from Manchester who has never played in the NHL. In 16 games with the Monarchs this season, he ranks second in points with 11 (6+5=11) and is tied for second on the team in power play goals with two.
