Doughty’s Back Jack

Not to worry Kings fans, Drew Doughty has been cleared to play, and will officially lace them up when the Los Angeles Kings take on the Tampa Bay Lightening on Thursday. It’s a bit of good news that definitely will brighten up the day of just about anyone following the Kings. While they’ve done well (a 4-2 record) while he’s been on the sidelines, the defense has definitely been a bit more shaky, and at time they’ve had a tough time breaking out of their own zone. In both respects, the Kings will get a boost from Doughty.

To accommodate Drew’s return to the lineup, Jake Muzzin has been returned to Manchester today. It’s not a surprising move, and he didn’t do terribly poorly during the three games he took Doughty’s roster spot. Hopefully he’ll be able to maintain his strong play in Manchester and be ready to contribute when he returns. The next obvious question facing the Kings will be who they bring up next time a defenseman goes down with injury? Do they bring Muzzin up because he’s familiar with the system? Do they give Hickey a shot? Somebody else who has been impressing in Manchester? It’s a tough call, and we’ll have to wait and see I suppose. What do you think?
