The Perfect Run Comes to a Close

It had to end. It wasn’t going to last for the rest of the season (though what a ride it would have been if it had!). But it’s over now. After winning a franchise-record 9 games in a row, the Kings finally succumbed to defeat, losing to the hated Anaheim Ducks in Anaheim. Frankly I can’t think of a worse team to have the streak snapped against, but it’s over and we’ve got to move forward. The ideal way to go into the Olympic break would be to win the next two games and then heal, rest, and regroup so they’re ready to burst back onto the scene immediately following the Games.

The Kings have the Oilers and the Avalanche up next, both at home, and frankly both games they should be winning. The Avalanche have been over performing all season, but the Kings are far more legit. They’re not riding a streaky keeper with mediocre talent across the board. The Oilers… well… they are terrible this season. The most important thing a team can do if they want to get to the playoffs is beat the teams they’re supposed to beat. Well I’ve got news for you. They’re supposed to beat both of these teams, especially at home. If they can pull that off, they’ll be in spectacular shape heading into the home stretch for the playoffs! They’re so close I can taste them (knock on wood). Go Kings!

Up Next: Edmonton Oilers
